USES:   Atomized aluminum powders have uses in
aluminothermic smelting, explosives, master alloy manufacturing, pyrotechnic
and thermit compounds. It can also be used as a reducing agent in chemical
processing and as plastic compound filler. |
  |
HANDLING:   Aluminum powder may be ignited by static discharge
and burn at extremely high temperature. Once suspended in a dust-laden air
cloud, it is readily ignited and very explosive. Do not use water to clean up
spills. Use non-sparking tools for cleanup. Reacts violently with halogenated
hydrocarbons and with oxidizers. Reseal containers immediately after use.
Store away from food and beverages. Use dust respirator when handling.
OSHA PEL and ACGIH TLV-TWA have been established for Aluminum at 15-mg/m3
dust and 10 mg/m3 dust respectively. This product may be subject to
SARA Section 313 reporting requirements (Al 100%). See MSDS for more information. |
